Since 2011, BRKC has partnered with an NGO and local Ethiopian churches to train up church leaders, empower refugees, and bring hope of a better life to Eritreans and Ethiopians in Northern Ethiopia.  Click here to learn more.

In January we will be leading a trip to further serve these partners and those under their care.  Please read the following, and consider if you or someone you know would be interested in going with us.

BRKC Association Horn of Africa Mission Information

Trip Dates: January 4 – January 16, 2016 (dates may be adjusted to accommodate cheapest airfares)

Trip Cost: $3,200 all inclusive

Information Meeting: On Monday night, October 19th at 6:30 p.m., we will have an information and orientation meeting about the trip in the Connections Café at Noland Road Baptist Church.  If you are at all interested, come and learn details about the trip and opportunity before making a commitment.

Trip Agenda: All trip participants will help build relationships with officials, church representatives, community members and minister as needed. Additionally, there will be worship and evangelistic services in which all will participate, share testimonies, sing, pray and a few will preach.

Additionally, we will need three sub-groups or teams to develop the ministry plan, give leadership and work on specific needs.

  • Children’s Worker Team: One team will lead the children’s ministry which will be similar to a VBS or Bible Club. That team will plan and deliver Bible stories, crafts, games and music for all ages. Plus the possibility of teaching classes within the new library.
  • Bible School Team: This team will consist of pastors and teachers and will work with the leaders of the Bible School in Shire.
  • Construction Team: This team will work side-by-side with Eritrean and Ethiopian believers in the further construction of a Bible training center and church in the regional city of Shire. This city is about 35 miles away from the refugee camp and strategically important.
