First Baptist Church Grain Valley
OVERVIEW: The church secretary manages the day to day functions of the church office in a manner consistent with the warmth and friendliness of First Baptist Church of Grain Valley. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week. Scheduled weekly Monday – Thursday from 8am – 1pm.
ACCOUNTABILITY: The Church Secretary reports to the Lead Pastor for daily operations and evaluation, and is accountable to the Personnel Committee.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manages incoming and outgoing communications through mail, telephone, digital, and delivery means through the church office.
2. Assist the treasurer with matching charges and purchasing receipts.
3. Maintain attendance total for Sunday School and Sunday morning church services.
4. Store confidential records of members’ offerings and provide their sums to the members for their tax deductions.
5. Creates and produces all printed materials.
6. Provides administrative support to the entire church staff and various Committees if requested.
7. Assist the benevolent fund and provide receipts for cash purchases.
8. Keeps various appointments and counseling meetings with the pastor and church support staff confidential as directed by the pastor.
9. Performs other related duties as needed.
Requirements:
1. Discretion and confidentiality are required, and an important aspect of the position. The candidate must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement as conditional acceptance of the position.
2. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately in both writing and verbally.
3. Requires strong attention to detail and must be able to organize and prioritize.
4. Must be proficient in office programs like Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Adobe.
5. Previous experience in office administration or a related field is preferred.
6. A high school diploma is the minimum educational requirement, but a degree in business administration is preferred.
