Connection Point Church (CPC) is a biblically grounded Southern Baptist congregation in Raytown, Missouri, with more than 180 years of gospel ministry and a deep commitment to expository preaching, discipleship, and the Great Commission. Averaging 800 in Sunday worship and 500 in weekly Life Groups and other weekly activities. CPC is a growing, increasingly multicultural church with a strong worship ministry and an active local-to-global missions focus. Positioned in a diverse suburb of Kansas City, the church views its community as a mission field and is seeking a Lead Pastor who will faithfully preach God’s Word, shepherd the congregation, and guide the church forward in its mission to connect people with Jesus and one another.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with preference given to master’s-level or higher degree from a respected evangelical seminary, Master of Divinity specifically preferred.
- Verifiable experience with quantifiable (or measured) effectiveness and success in pastoral ministry, preaching, and supervision of multiple staff.
- Agree with 2000 version of the Baptist Faith and Message and 2024 version of the Connection Point Church Constitution and By-Laws.
- Pass a criminal record background check.
- Pass a personal financial background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and deliver Bible-based and theologically sound sermons and lead in observance of the church ordinances.
- Prioritize prayer both personally and in the life of the church. Equip and encourage the body to learn, value, and practice prayer.
- Lead the church in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and seek the Lord for ways to improve.
- Serve as administrator and work in conjunction with the Executive Pastor to supervise the work of the ministry staff, both volunteers and paid ministers and directors.
- Lead the church in an effective evangelism effort as well as a caring ministry for those in the church and community.
- Cooperate with the local association, state convention and Southern Baptist Convention leadership in matters of mutual interest and concern. Represent the church in civic matters.
- Regularly assess the church’s spiritual health and ministry effectiveness, seeking the Lord’s direction. Provide clear vision for ministry development and maintain ongoing personal study to stay informed and discerning about current trends. Oversee discipleship initiatives and offer guidance to committees and ministry teams, empowering them to function effectively.
- Meet quarterly with lay-leaders for accountability and assessment, in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws.
- Support the family ministry leadership and programs that guide young people into a personal relationship with Christ and prepare them for an independent, life-long walk of faith.
- Coordinate with the worship and production teams in planning and execution of weekly services.
- Participate in and collaborate with the Executive Pastor in the planning of the church budget in cooperation with the Finance Team in preparation for congregational approval at the annual business meeting.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Semi-monthly compensation and benefits eligibility in accordance with prior education and experience appropriate for full-time senior pastor position. Benefits to include health insurance, retirement, vacation, and other time away from the church (missions, conferences, etc.). A sabbatical is available after a period.
