2015 has been a tremendous year for Restoration House of Greater Kansas City. Since October of 2014, we have hired our staff, held our first annual Hope NOW Freedom Gala, started our volunteer program, and opened our doors!
Our fabulous staff is made up of September Trible, Executive Director; Christine McDonald, Program Manager; Wanda White, Trauma Therapist and Janine Montgomery, Case Manager. We are currently interviewing for the Residential Manager position and a Social Worker position.
On January 17th, BR-KC partnered with KC Street Hope to host the first annual Hope NOW Freedom Gala to raise support and awareness for Restoration House. The evening was a resounding success and featured local celebrities, elegant dinner, silent auction, comedy, live music and an inspirational message from Christine McDonald. We are so thankful to all who supported the gala, including BR-KC churches, local businesses and many individuals. Our second event is scheduled for Saturday, January 23, 2016 again at Arrowhead North Club. This year’s event will be bigger than last year’s.
Friday, May 8th was a day that saw the realization of a dream. Restoration House celebrated its opening with a Dedication and Ribbon Cutting ceremony held at the Beverly House of Hope.
RHGKC holds volunteer education and awareness meetings on the third Thursday of each month at Heart of Life Church in Lee’s Summit. Volunteers are trained on important topics about sex trafficking. We have touched on topics such as Language Matters, the Deceptions curriculum, documentaries, stories from Restoration House and heard from experts in the field. We also offer break-out sessions for volunteer teams such as food/clothing drives, maintenance, speaker’s bureau and gala fundraising.
