Around 75 of our BR-KC pastors and their wives shared an evening of fun, food and entertainment last Friday evening (2/3). David Smart, professional guitarist, was the entertainment. He shared several musical numbers including some he had written. David is a Christian Music Instrumentalist of the Year recipient three times and has performed with Larnel Harris, First Call, New Song and Phillips, Craig and Dean. David and his wife Delia are active members of their church, Olathe Westside, where they have served in several areas of ministry.
Linda Graham of Connection Point Church was awarded the annual Ruth Carpenter Volunteer award for going above and beyond the call to serve the Lord and others. Linda is always willing to volunteer to help however needed. She has helped Jennifer and Amy stuff thousands of envelopes for BR-KC and Rehope. She currently serves as the Associational WMU Director and as MWMU State Funds Ambassador. She was recently elected to serve on the MBC Executive Board representing the West Central Region. She leads the Women on Mission group at Connection Point that does a host of projects too numerous to mention. She helped organize and works monthly with the Adults on Mission group at the Baptist Home in Independence serving the elderly there. Finally, she oversees mission housing for visiting missionaries in the two mission houses Connection Point maintains for our IMB missionaries on stateside assignment. She is truly a worthy recipient of this year’s volunteer award.
New pastors to the association were also recognized. Nicolas and Rachel Wilson (First Baptist Peculiar) and Trevor and Megan Ball (Big Creek Baptist), Keith and Jolee Sisney (Norfleet Baptist) and Dennis and Glenda Depugh (River Boulevard Baptist).
We are grateful for our two sponsors who made the event possible. Moyer and Descombes Insurance Agency was our primary sponsor. They serve several of our churches and as an independent agency can shop for the best insurance for your church or ministry. Miller Management also sponsored us. They provide accounting and financial services to our churches at a reasonable cost and have an intimate knowledge of church and non-profit finances.
And finally, we want to thank Connection Point Church for hosting us. They graciously set up, provided child care, served us an amazing dinner, and so much more. We are so grateful for their hospitality!
To anyone who was there, we welcome your input and feedback for future planning of this event.
