When BR-KC scheduled the 2021 Annual Appreciation Banquet last spring, we could not have imagined we would still be in the middle of a pandemic!  For a while we weren’t sure if we would be able to gather together in person, but the Lord was faithful, and the timing was right.

Over 100 people gathered Friday night, February 19th, in a Covid-friendly fashion (complete with social distancing and masks) at Connection Point Church Atrium to celebrate the pastors, staff, volunteers and spouses that work tirelessly in the name of the Lord.

2020 was a tough year, to say the least, so this year’s banquet was more important than ever.  Many people don’t realize the normal stress that pastors face on a day-to-day basis, but you compound that with difficult circumstances and decisions that had to be made last year and it all adds up to be overwhelming.

With laughter ringing out thanks to the comedy of Jason Earls, the attendees enjoyed a fun night of fellowship and relaxation.  The crowd was treated to a delicious meal (shout out to Linda Rogers, catering manager for ROC Catering who makes a mean brisket) and a few lucky winners received door prizes.  Connection Point ROC bookstore provided LOTS of free books for the attendees to take home.

Leighton and Kay Clemons received the “Ruth Carpenter Distinguished Volunteer Award” for their many years of faithful volunteer service to individuals, families, and churches.  Leighton and Kay have served tirelessly with the MBC Disaster Relief teams for a number of years as well as serving with Baptist Builders (see church spotlight story).  They have hearts for service and for doing a job well.  They have been described as the “dynamic duo”.  Thank you Leighton and Kay for being the hands and feet of God!

BR-KC would also like to thank our sponsors for this year’s event who helped provide a fun and entertaining evening!
