It is always something worthy of celebration when the Lord calls a believer from one of our BR-KC churches to vocational ministry.

It is especially noteworthy when the Lord calls them and then sends them to plant a new church in an under-churched, under-evangelized area.  Pastor Aaron Cockrum, a member of Fellowship Church, was an atheist who was saved four years ago at the age of 40. Shortly thereafter, he felt the call of God on his heart and has been pursuing this calling over the last four years. He and his wife Linda have three boys ranging in age from 13-9, and for the last three years he has been working full-time while working toward both his BACM and MDiv online at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served in multiple ministries in his home church. He was one of the key launch members of the new Fellowship Church in Raymore.  His current role with them is Church Planter In-Residence.

Aaron has now partnered with NAMB and is answering a calling to plant churches in New Hampshire.  He is beginning his residency this fall at The Well Church, in Nashua, New Hampshire. He and his family have faithfully taken on a God-sized calling and Aaron and Linda welcome as many prayer partners as they can get.  This is a big move, uprooting their family and boys from their friends and schools and resettling so far from home.

If you are familiar with the Northeastern U.S., you know that they will be planting a church in one of the toughest mission fields in the nation.  Less than 2% of the population are Bible-believing, born-again followers of Jesus.  Surveys show that for 39% of the population, truth is relative and can change depending on the situation.  New Hampshire is the least churched state in the U.S.  Of those who claim to be Christian, the majority identify as Catholic, but less than 60% attend Easter services each year.  And, Wiccan is the leading religion of neighboring New England.

To contact the Cockrum’s and assure them of your prayers and support for them, you can email them at [email protected].  If your church is looking for a potential partner church to pray for and possibly send mission teams, Aaron would welcome having a conversation with you.  Thanks, Aaron, Linda and boys for faithfully responding to the Lord’s call to leave family, homes, and land.
