BR-KC is an ethnically diverse network of 130 Southern Baptist Churches in Jackson and Cass County, Missouri

Let us simply state first that we are against injustice and racism and mistreatment of any person for the color of their skin or for any other reason. We are horrified at the killing of George Floyd and others who were mistreated, targeted or killed because of the color of their skin. Let justice roll down like mighty waters and righteousness like an ever flowing stream.

We believe all people are created in the image of Almighty God, the maker and creator of the universe. As such all people are of inestimable value and are of equal value. While others may not share this viewpoint, and may disagree as to the origin of life, Humanists and Religionists alike generally agree that we hold this truth to be self evident that all men are created equal.

Though diverse in ethnicity, language, culture and history, we share one race, the human race. All human blood runs red.  Unfortunately, all humanity has a sinful nature that does not always love their neighbor but sometimes hates and oppresses those that are different and deemed subhuman. History teaches this graphically. Racism, injustice and oppression are not unique to America but are gravely serious global issues that we must resist and seek to overcome. Racism and injustice, here or abroad, is never right, never to be condoned, and always to be opposed.

We are pro life for all lives from cradle to grave.

We are for justice and equal treatment of all persons under the law.

We are for freedom of speech and assembly and peaceful protest.

We are for our just police force, for them wearing body cameras for their and others protection, and for police unions, municipal leadership, and judiciary’s to hold accountable any violent or racist members.

We are for just legal consequences of great import for those who utilize their position of authority in the community to commit racially motivated crimes or who mistreat persons of color.

We are for majority citizens standing with minority citizens and building bridges of conciliation.

We are for the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for forgiveness in His name received and offered, who is the only way to a heart transformation resulting in justice and righteousness.

And we are for the Church leading the way in the demonstration of the oneness of humanity, with equitable and just treatment for all.
