The Church in Waldo was launched in January, 2016 with the support of Heart of Life Church and others. We’ve had a lot of help in building what we have, so we are indebted to the Kingdom-mindedness of so many who have gone before us!
God has been so faithful and given us many victories. The level of ownership that even new attendees feel as they visit is thrilling to me. People come identifying ways to meet needs rather than pointing out problems. They’re coming with solutions. I love that this culture is already established and being built on. We’ve also seen a half dozen come to Christ in the last year, which is beautiful. All of heaven’s throwing a party! And most recently, as a church that desires to be a place where racial healing takes place because of the work only the gospel can do, we’ve also seen some great steps in that direction. All in all, there’s so much to be grateful for and we’re blessed to be part of what God is doing here in Kansas City.
While we have been meeting in the Antioch Baptist Church building, we have yet to really connect with Waldo. We’ve seen bits and pieces, but as of now, still trying to discern what makes Waldo tick. However, we believe God has given us some insight recently, and have some ideas that we look forward to testing out in the coming months and years to come. We’re here for the long haul!
There are a number of changes coming up. We’ll likely be receiving a building soon which is an incredible blessing but can also be a burden as it will need quite a bit of work to get ministry-ready. We are offering prayers of praise for the Lord’s provision already, but we ask you to pray for continued provision. Also, please pray for us to have discernment as we continue to develop and raise up leaders. The Lord is at work! We want to keep pace with all he’s doing!
